This week the White House issued a comprehensive fact sheet identifying the Obama Administration’s most important accomplishments in carrying out the “global partnership between governments and civil society organizations”—known as the Open Government Partnership (OGP)—to “advance transparency and accountability, bolster citizen engagement, and harness new technologies to strengthen government.” The fact sheet identifies the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS) as a unique “independent agency dedicated to improving Federal government administrative procedures through collaboration between the public and private sectors” and singles out several ACUS recommendations for special recognition. They included ACUS’s “recommendations on effective techniques for agencies to use modern communication tools to enhance public information and participation in the rulemaking process.” The fact sheet was issued as the OGP’s 70 member countries meet for a high-level summit this week.
