Table of Executive Orders

Regulators must be mindful of a number of requirements as they seek to issue regulations. These requirements stem from executive orders, statutes, and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) guidance. As ACUS has observed in the past, it can be difficult for agency officials to keep track of these requirements. Accordingly, ACUS has created a table listing the major executive orders that guide most agencies’ regulatory activities. The table links to the full text of each of the executive orders, provides user-friendly summaries of their content, and excerpts all language pertaining to independent regulatory agencies.

As of now, the table includes only those requirements imposed by executive order, but over time, it will be enhanced to include requirements imposed by statute and OMB guidance. We hope this table serves as a valuable resource for agency officials, academics, and other members of the public interested in understanding the rulemaking process.
