The Committee on Adjudication will meet to consider two draft reports and recommendations addressing Social Security disability adjudication. The consultants for this project are Dean Harold Krent of IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law and Professor Scott Morris of IIT College of Psychology.  Their draft report, a draft Office of the Chairman report, along with other documents related to the Social Security Disability Adjudication Project, will be posted here ahead of the meeting.

Research Projects

Recommendation 2013-1 – Improving Consistency in Social Security Disability Adjudication identifies ways to improve the adjudication of Social Security disability benefits claims before administrative law judges and the Social Security Administration’s Appeals Council, suggests changes to the evaluation of opinion evidence from medical professionals, and encourages the SSA to enhance data capture and reporting.
