Stanley Sporkin graduated from Pennsylvania State University and received his law degree from Yale University. Sporkin spent twenty years with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and served the last seven years as the Director of the Division of Enforcement. He then served five years as the Central Intelligence Agency’s General Counsel.
In 1985, President Ronald Reagan appointed him to the Federal Bench where he served as a United States District Court Judge for the District of Columbia for 14 years. Upon retirement from the Bench, Sporkin spent six years as a partner with the international law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. He was also a founding partner of the law firm of Freeh, Sporkin & Sullivan (now retired).
Since 2006, Sporkin has been the Ombudsman for BP America Inc.
