Eric S. Benderson is the Associate General Counsel for Litigation and Claims at the U.S. Small Business Administration. In addition to overseeing the conduct of Agency litigation in federal and state courts, he has responsibility for the formulation of SBA’s environmental policies and compliance with federal and state environmental laws. He works on a daily basis with the various financing programs available to small businesses, including the business loan programs, known as the 7(a) and 504 loan programs; the venture capital program involving Small Business Investment Companies; and the Export Loan Program.
Benderson is a frequent lecturer at Washington, D.C. area law schools, programs sponsored by the Treasury Department and various trade associations. He is the author of a number of articles on commercial and administrative law topics and is a member of the New York and District of Columbia Bars. Benderson holds a B.A. degree from Syracuse University, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, a national scholastic honorary society. He has an M.A. degree from Columbia University, specializing in Chinese studies. He received his J.D. degree from George Washington University with honors.
