Robert A. Shapiro
Robert Shapiro has been a member of the Senior Executive Service since 1990 and currently holds the position of Associate Solicitor for Legal Counsel at the United States Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. As Associate Solicitor, he heads the Division which provides legal advice to the Department of Labor in the areas of legislation, ethics, administrative law, and other areas of general governmental law. Mr. Shapiro also manages the Department’s Honors Attorney Program.
Mr. Shapiro has been with the Department of Labor since 1976. He is a graduate of American University and Northwestern University School of Law. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the Department of Labor’s Distinguished Career Service Award and the Outstanding Government Attorney Award from the American Bar Association’s Section on Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice. Mr. Shapiro also was an Adjunct Professor at American University in Washington, D.C. for 15 years. He is a member and represents the Department of Labor on the Administrative Conference of the United States.
